We often have customers purchase furniture and are intimidated by the idea of assembling themselves. Here are some quick tips:

Do It Yourself - Tips for Assembling Furniture

    • Get someone to help. Ask a friend or family member for help if you are assembling a large piece of furniture. It’s always helpful to have an extra set of hands to hold pieces in place or grab a tool for you. If the piece is heavy; you’ll need help to move it safely.

What’s more…

  • Get organized. You want to choose a spot that is clean and allows you enough room to work comfortably. Unpack the crate and organize pieces into separate areas. Be sure to examine pieces to see if anything is damaged or missing. If you find a damaged piece or something is missing, contact us, and we will be glad to assist you.
  • Read the directions. This sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how often it is overlooked. This will save you a lot of time and energy. Arrange parts in the order that you’ll need them. Note what tools you’ll need, some packages will include small tools necessary. If not, get your tools ready so you’ll have it all close by when needed. Keep directions out in the open so you don’t waste any time having to look for them if you get stuck.
  • Choose the right time. Assembling furniture requires time, concentration, and patience. Choose a time to start your project when you are relaxed and have the time to focus on what you’re doing. Rushing will only lead to frustration and mistakes. It may take a half a day to assemble a large piece of furniture properly, don’t be hard on yourself, the goal is to get the job done right. The feeling of accomplishment when your project is finished is well worth it!
