Bonded Leather is ground up pieces of leather held together by an adhesive and coated with polyurethane to protect and give the look of leather.  Bonded leather products can contain varying amounts of dry leather depending on manufacturer, the remainder being fibers and adhesives.  Bycast leather is a material made with split leather backing and coated with a layer of polyurethane and then embossed with a leather like texture. Bonded leather comes in a variety of colors and textures – these products are not the faux leather you remember from yester year – the quality of these blends has come a long way since their debut to the furniture scene in 2007.  Bonded leather sofa prices are generally 2/3 of what a genuine leather sofa would cost you – that’s a HUGE savings! Bonded Leather vs. Genuine Leather

If you are looking to shop GREEN – another advantage of bonded leather is that it is recycled leather – scraps that would have otherwise been wasted are reused to create this leather blend upholstery.  It also lacks the use of formaldehyde often used in the leather tanning process for genuine leather.

Some critics note that bonded leather lacks the durability of genuine leather.  In our experience, our customers have been happy with the quality of our products, but if you are worried about making your bonded leather sofas last, we recommend caring for your sofa as you would leather regularly.  Cleaning bonded leather is similar to genuine leather, use a lightly damp cloth to wipe away dirt, dust, or spills, later conditioning with a leather conditioner available in most supermarkets.  Many folks find bonded leather and leather easier to maintain because of the ease of wiping away dirt and grime.  If you are still concerned about making your bonded leather sofa last – we have a great and affordable extended warranty program that covers ANY spills, tears, burns, you name it!  See one of our Sales Reps for info.

We’re proud to offer our customers a great selection of furniture to satisfy any price point – we’re your source for living rooms in Delaware.  We’ve been carrying bonded leather products for years and our customers have raved not only about the styles available but the prices!  There will always be a place for genuine leather, but if you like the look, not the price tag, bonded leather is a great choice for you!
