Goodbye Minimalism: Why 2026 is the Year of the “Storied Home”

The new year has many of us wanting to turn a new leaf, page, and refresh ourselves, our lives, and our homes! If you are wondering what’s trending for 2026 while planning to redecorate or restyle your home – look no further. We’ve searched the web, trends, and threads, and here’s our list of top trends for 2026 in home decor.

  1. Goodbye Minimalism, Hello “Storied Home”. We love this trend, if we had to grade it, it’d get an A++. Designers are moving away from generic, ‘perfect’ tailored decor and embracing authentic home style. What does this mean? Incorporating pieces that reflect be-a-YOU-tiful you. Making a house or apartment a HOME takes time and a personal touch. So dig out those boxes from yesterday and find ways to incorporate treasured momentos and personal items that throw you back to your youth. Take you to your favorite memories and moments. Like we always say – your home should be a reflection of YOU and what YOU love, so lean into this trend and add some personal touches to your room’s decor.home decor trends 2026
  2. Fat Furniture. Haha, we thought the same thing when we saw this – what?!? In living rooms and sectionals, we’re seeing lots of deep, cozy, ample cushioned sectionals and sofas that welcome comfort and the ultimate landing spot to binge watch TV. Icing on top? Thick and luxurious corduroy fabrics and covers are going strong from last season. The vibe is cozy, comfort, lounging, the living room version of your favorite hoodie and sweats. You’ll see lots of big, deep, and comfy sectionals and lounge chaise in 2026.
  3. Honey Neutrals. We just love saying that, it has a nice ring. We’re still seeing greys and cool tones in color – but more earthy tones this season. Mushroom, chocolate, and warmer colors are all the vibe. You’ll also see this with lighter and more mid tone wood furniture finishes vs the ultra dark and grey finishes we’ve seen for last couple years. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous – jewel tones, blues, sunset corals, and botanical greens are also in pantone’s HOT COLORS for 2026. We still love our greys, but are excited to see some warm, honey, earthy tones making their way into the new year.
  4. Natural Stones. We’re seeing a strong comeback of the marble and faux marble stone finishes in dining room furniture and occasional tables. The quality and unique designs and patterns in these pieces mimic nature and also add to some of these earthy elements and colors we’re seeing.
  5. The Restorative Home. Another great trend we’re spotting – the restorative home. Creating a home that tells a story and offers a retreat at the end of the day. This not only means incorporating a heritage narrative and meaningful pieces that tell a story – it means investing in staple pieces that add to the quality of your life. A lot of attention to quality sleep and how it impacts your health and beyond. If you are planning to upgrade your bedroom retreat and looking for a quality mattress at affordable prices, we’ve got you. A better night’s sleep is what’s trending 2026 and we’re here to help make that happen for you.

So another year, another handful of decorating trends for 2026. We like these ones though – bringing nature in with earthy tones, creating a home that tells a story about you versus sterile and generic pieces from a big box. We want to see your grandma’s quirky vase and that plate you made in grade school. Cheers to homes reflecting you and your beautiful story and life.
