Halloween is just a week away and would you believe, after Christmas is one of the biggest retail holidays! It’s easy to see how people get caught up in spending. We are equally devastated about chocolate prices still being high.

Pro tip: shop the day after Halloween for some 50%+ off chocolate pumpkins and ghost marshmallows, I mean they taste the same right?

Anyhow back to our budget friendly tips for celebrating the Halloween season.

  1. Costume Swap: Who says you need a new costume every year? Start a thread with friends about swapping costumes or having a casual get together and creating your own unique outfits with bits and pieces from the group share. Goodwill and resale shops are also notoriously good for deals on Halloween and costume inspired looks for less.
  2. Host a Movie Night: Halloween doesn’t have to mean expensive haunted house tickets or outings. Stream some of your favorite scary (or funny, whatever is your vibe) movies and bring the fun home. Snuggle up on your favorite sofa or sectional and don’t forget the blankets and cozy gear to invite everyone to settle in for a great time at the movies – home edition.
  3. Spooky Snacks: Throw some candy corn in your popcorn or set up a candy apple dessert station – complete with melted chocolate, sprinkles, nuts, candies – whatever suits your fancy. They are pretty easy to make and everyone can design their own.
  4. Relive the Memories: Have a favorite Halloween or this season make you nostalgic? Pull out some old holiday pictures and albums to share and reminisce with family and friends.
  5. Entertain the Senses: Dim lighting, seasonal smells be it cinnamon and fall scents or your favorite Halloween treats, cater your get together to your tummy’s content. There are a lot of cute ideas for Halloween themed food and treats and some are pretty tasty – like those crescent mummy hot dogs. Don’t forget to check out some themed playlists and music to set the mood as well.
  6. Check Out Local Events: There are a lot of local Delaware Halloween events going on this week and next, so check your social feed, news, and find one that works for you! Many are affordable and family friendly. If you’re looking for something this weekend – visit our stores we’ll be giving out candy to the kiddos and have some family friendly fun.

We wish you a happy Halloween season!
