The weather is warming and spring is here! Time for special events bringing family and friends together. If you are hosting this season – we are here to help you shine like the super star you are!   1. The Clean Slate. Yup, can’t get around it. The quickest and easiest way to host like a pro is to set the stage for your guests. If you are busy with work, life, etc – focus on the areas you expect your guests to hang out and it’s OK to close bedroom doors or rooms you don’t want attention. It’s your house for goodness sake! Shake out those curtains, wash the floor, fresh towels in the bathroom, etc. A little TLC and your house will be shining like a new penny. Step one – complete!
  2. Bring Spring Indoors. This is easy to do with all the beautiful bulb flowers popping up around Delaware. Trim some fresh blooms and set them in a vase on your table. Don’t have a vase – get creative with a mason or sauce jar. Seasonal candles are another great way to bring the season in with your senses.   3. Choose Your Menu. Get togethers are just as much for YOU to enjoy. If folks offer to bring a dish – learn how to say YES and THANK YOU. If there are dishes you really hate cooking – buy those items or drop them from the list. The most important thing is that the meal brings people together and there are a lot of ways to take little shortcuts to get the job done.   4. Create a Vibe. Figure out the vibe you want to set for your spring get together. Are we turning it up with some lively music or more a chill relaxing afternoon? Is everyone coming to watch the big race, or are we having a family game night? Make sure to plan ahead, download the playlist, look up last year’s race factoids, or borrow some board games from your friend. The perfect host is always a step ahead with a little planning to make the day grand.
  5. Head Count, Seat Count. Last, but certainly not least – plan seating for the number of guests you expect to host. Ideally we’d all love that runway long sofa when we need it – and at Urban Furniture Outlet – we definitely can help you with choices of cozy and spacious sectionals as well as dining room sets. If your party guests exceed what you’ve already got with your furniture, consider adding folding chairs and tables, or rearranging furniture temporarily to allow guests to flow through rooms more easily. Consider where people will gather and do your best to accommodate. Don’t forget you can borrow folding chairs for things like this – folks are usually more than happy to help since you’re doing the heavy lifting with hosting.

Finally, smile and remember to enjoy your event! It’s so special to bring the people you cherish together for a get together, meal, game night etc. These moments are where lifelong memories are made.
